Islam=Apartheid: the security hazard

Homeland Security Newswire: "Canadians outraged: Veiled Muslim women not required to lift veil, prove ID at airports"

Canadian airport security personnel do not ask veiled Muslims women to lift their veils, show and ID, and prove their identity; the veiled women do not even interact with security personnel: rather, a man traveling with the women typically hands in all the passports and is the only one to communicate with airline staff while the veiled women simply walk through, unchecked and unidentified; a video showing two veiled women walking unchecked through security at Montreal's Trudeau International Airport causes outrage in Canada (...) >>>

Creaping sharia in action -

Last year, Nabeel, David and friends went to the Arab festival and filmed a video which went viral (see below). I first posted the video here, back in 2009. Well this year, these good, decent Americans were arrested -- based on what? Based on sharia (Islamic) law. The video was shocking because it exposed the lack of freedoms for non-Muslims in America (Dearborn) when Islam was involved. Muslims are given special rights, treated as a special class that gets special treatment.

This year, Acts 17 Apologetics (Nabeel's group) was banned from passing out flyers at the Muslim festival. David Wood wrote me:
Yes, we're banned from handing out literature, but we didn't do that. We followed the rules, and still got thrown in jail. They flat out lied about us. We can prove they lied with the video footage (just like last year), but the police took our cameras and won't let us have the footage. There's major oppression of anyone who criticizes Islam.
This is against basic American rule of law. America was based on individual rights -- no special rights for special classes. All matters of human rights fly right out the window and sharia (Islamic) law seamlessly takes over when Islamic supremacism rears its ugly, aggressive head. (...) >>>

Is the veil dropping for Iranians? -

Tehran Times: "The Ultimate Unveiling of Iranian Women", by Farzaneh Milani - Hat Tip: Tom Carew

Have you considered the gender makeup of the two opposing camps in Iran today? On one side, is an all-male cabal of gun-totting, club-wielding men — the Army, the Revolutionary Guard and the volunteer militia — supported by the pantheon of the highest government offices in the land — the Supreme Leadership, the Presidency, and membership in the Guardian Council — all monopolized by men.

- Caption: Newsha Tawakolian -

Like the Taliban in Afghanistan, the military junta in Sudan, the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) in Algeria, the ruling elite in Saudi Arabia, this faction advocates a strict separation of men and women. They want the physical space and with it the social order separated based on gender. They want to segregate mosques, schools, universities, beaches, and buses. During his term as the mayor of Tehran, President Ahmadinejad proceeded to institute separate elevators for men and women in municipal offices.

On the other side, is a sea of lawfully demonstrating men and women marching side by side and shoulder to shoulder. Holding hands, green in color, hopeful in outlook, vibrant and non-violent, they fight bullets and batons with open hands and support Mir Hossein Moussavi, who is often accompanied by his wife, Zahra Rahnavard. The Amboy Times: "Dutch Theater segregates gender to appease Muslims"

You've come a long way baby, now go back. Imagine going to the movies and not being able to sit next to your spouse. (emphasis not mine.) On Friday night, a Muslim stand-up comedian was scheduled to give a show in a Rotterdam theatre with segregated seating for the men and women in his audience. Moroccan-born writer and TV producer Salaheddine Benchikhi was to make his debut as a stand-up comedian at Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam. At his request, the theatre said it would offer female audience members the option of sitting apart from the men, as Algemeen Dagblad reported several hours before the show on Friday.

According to the newspaper, 50 of the 590 seats had been reserved for women who object to sitting beside a man due to their Islamic faith. As an extra 'service', the orthodox ladies may sit in the first rows of the balcony. "Whether the option will actually be utilised remains to be seen", Joyce van Dongen of Theater Zuidplein stated. "Fifty is an estimate made by Salaheddine's management. (...) >>>

EurSoc: "Sharia Courts "Legally Binding" In UK"

Well, Rowan Williams will be pleased, as will those prominent legal minds who said it was vital and inevitable that Sharia Law be introduced to Britain. It is reported today that Islamic Sharia courts are exploiting a loophole in British law and pronouncing judgments on cases including divorce, financial disputes and even domestic violence. (...) The government has tolerated Sharia law for various civil law cases, but the move into criminal and family law seems to confirm warnings about "two-tiered" and "alternative" justice systems developing in Britain. Already, the courts are handing down judgements which clearly defy common British values on equal rights. The Mail reports:

"In one recent inheritance dispute in Nuneaton, a Muslim man's estate was spit was between three daughters and two sons with each son receiving twice as much as each daughter - in keeping with sharia law." A mainstream court would have demanded equal treatment. More worrying is the movement of Sharia into criminal law. (...) What next - and where will they stop? Britain has an alternative legal system developing under the noses of the authorities. Indeed, the police seem to be colluding with the courts, dropping investigations into violent incidents on the Sharia courts' say-so.

Indeed, it's possible that Muslim police officers are acting in the interests of their fellow worshippers. (...) Similarly, two Christian preachers were booted out of a Muslim neighbourhood in Birmingham. The officer, who was very aggressive, told the preachers, "We were in a Muslim area and were not allowed to spread our Christian message. He said we were committing a hate crime by telling the youths to leave Islam and said that he was going to take us to the police station." (...) Wonder if Dr Williams and his supporters still believe Sharia is essential for Britain? (...) >>>

Terrorism on Wooden Shoes: or on Moroccan slippers - The four, three citizens of Moroccan descent and a Moroccan with Dutch residence status arrived this morning at Brussels airport and were taken into custody. Media report that the detainees were arrested and deported on an earlier occasion, when they planned to join the jihad in the Caucasus region.

AFP: "Kenya arrests Dutch citizens heading to 'jihadist' camp"

Four Dutch citizens have been arrested in Kenya for "possible involvement in terrorism", the prosecution service in the Netherlands said on Wednesday." According to Kenyan authorities, the four were arrested on the border of Kenya and Somalia," last Friday, it said in a statement. "They are alleged to have been on their way to a jihadist training camp. " (...) While prosecutors identified them all as Dutch nationals, the Dutch foreign affairs ministry said the four included three citizens and a Moroccan with Dutch residence status.
They are being detained "for further questioning" (...) Dutch media reported the four were suspected of having aided the Shebab Islamic militant group in Somalia, but Brinkman would not comment on this. (...)

In Kenya, a police officer who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity said the four had been transferred to the capital Nairobi after initially being held in the coastal city of Mombasa. (...)  The radical Al-Qaeda-inspired Shebab Islamists in Somalia have been battling the government and have admitted to receiving backing from foreign fighters in their bid to topple President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. Kenya, which shares a long border with the lawless Horn of Africa country, is wary of a possible attack on its soil and has been on the alert. Throw molotovs in a clown's suit and no one will take you seriously. They've been getting away with mayhem and mutilations for at least two decades:

DutchNews: "Vegan streaker 'planned to attack queen'"

An animal rights activist known as the vegan streaker has been arrested on suspicion of planning to attack queen Beatrix, his lawyer Gerard Spong told the Volkskrant on Tuesday.

The public prosecution department said earlier that Peter Janssen is suspected of preparing an attack and possessing a gun. Two computers were taken from homes in Wissekerke and Vught, where the 24-year-old's mother lives.

Later the department said Janssen was suspected of planning to attack the queen because she regularly wears fur in public. The arrest followed 'extensive' testimony, the department said. (...) >>>

Dutch News: "Animal rights extremism 'not terrorism'"

Animal rights activists in the Netherlands are becoming more violent but are not involved in actual terrorism, the state security service AIVD said in a report on Thursday. The number of violent incidents involving animal rights activists has gone up over the past two years but there is no evidence that the aim is to damage society or terrify the public at large, the AIVD said. Right-wing MPs have urged the government to brand animal rights activism as terrorism, which would allow police to crack down more strongly. (...) >>>

Elsevier: "Injured Squatter - Violence is common in squatted building" (free translation)

In the last few years scores of people have been roughed up with bats and pipes in Amsterdam's squatted building 'Vrankrijk', says wounded squatter 'Yoghurt' in a newspaper article. He was left for dead, abandoned in the streets. Suspects refused to cooperate with the police investigation [sic]. Vrankrijk has become an icon of hypocrisy and cronyism, displaying almost fascoid tendencies. The mayor of Amsterdam intends to close the building; the squatters have vowed to fight the decision. They have collected 21,ooo Euros towards Yoghurt's damages, but he wants at least double that amount ... (ed. the inmates are running the asylum!) >>>

Animal Rights group claims responsibility for attack on NYSE Euronext stock exchange board members.

Dutch News: "Animal group claims car arson attacks"
The Dutch branch of the Animal Liberation Front has claimed that it set two cars owned by a senior stock exchange official on fire earlier this month, NOS TV news reports on Monday. The Euronext stock exchange trades shares in British company Huntingdon Life Sciences which carries out experiments on animals for pharmaceutical companies.
The website also claims another attack on a car owned by a Euronext staffer in Noordwijkerhout. In that incident, which was not made public by the police, the car was daubed with graffiti, NOS says. Earlier this month, Home Affairs Minister Guusje ter Horst said that the Netherlands is to get a special police unit focusing on radical animal rights activists. >>>

Dec 29, 2008

Background: traditionally these groups in the Netherlands act with near impunity, as they are seen as 'playful' in the general perception (in the tradition of the US Weather Underground: ludiek, stemming from the Latin translation of the word). This cleverly self-adopted epithet is suggestive of innocent pranks, but the economic damage they have done is extensive. There have been personal costs as well. The fiancee of a politician on an anti immigration platform lost her leg in a bomb attack, and maverick politician Pim Fortuyn was assassinated by one out of their midst (the Green litigation branch). Fortuyn was also repeatedly assaulted with 'playful cakes' consisting of excrement and acid. So, this is news - politicians (who sometimes as students had connections with these groups) have now had enough, it seems. The Home Affairs Minister has promised a special police unit focusing on radical animal rights activists.
