Under the Bus: Muslim power grab - who cares?

American Thinker: "Coup in the Maldives", by Rick Moran

Well here's a head-scratcher. The Religion of Peace backs a coup that overthrows a democratically elected government on Tuesday. On Thursday the US recognized the new government. There were reports that the police and security forces forced the president out, but Victoria Nuland, spokeswoman for the US State Department, saw no problem because "President Waheed, as you know, has committed to forming a national unity government." Of course he did. All any new tyrant has to do is coo magic words like "national unity government" and we bow before him. (...) >>>|

Exit seasoned diplomat -

FoxNews: "Administration Drop Kicks Ambassador for Remarks on Mubarak, but Echoes Sentiment"

The Obama administration this weekend cast off an unusually candid diplomat sent to urge Hosni Mubarak to step down as president of Egypt, but appears now to be echoing the sentiments of Amb. Frank Wisner that an "orderly transition" can't take place in a power vacuum.

While several U.S. officials disowned Wisner, the retired U.S. diplomat whom Obama sent to Cairo last week to push Mubarak out, they agreed that it may be too difficult for Egypt to hold free and fair elections without some time for the institutions necessary to be put into place.

Wisner shocked a conference of diplomats assembled in Munich Saturday when he said that Mubarak had to keep a leadership role at least temporarily if the "fragile glimmerings" of progress were to take hold as quickly as needed to prevent radical groups like the Muslim Brotherhood from filling the void. Special relationship partner, Britain (again) -

The reaction is already in - "British Government Backs State Dept. On Nuke Secrets Story" -

The Telegraph: "WikiLeaks cables: US agrees to tell Russia Britain's nuclear secrets"

The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week. Defence analysts claim the agreement risks undermining Britain’s policy of refusing to confirm the exact size of its nuclear arsenal.

The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”, which is shown often to be a one-sided affair by US diplomatic communications obtained by the WikiLeaks website. (...) Although the treaty was not supposed to have any impact on Britain, the leaked cables show that Russia used the talks to demand more information about the UK’s Trident missiles, which are manufactured and maintained in the US.

Washington lobbied London in 2009 for permission to supply Moscow with detailed data about the performance of UK missiles. The UK refused, but the US agreed to hand over the serial numbers of Trident missiles it transfers to Britain. (...) >>>

Under the cover of darkness, the Cuban people -

CFP: "Obama Bows to Castro"

(...) late on Friday afternoon, Obama bolstered the communist dictatorship in Cuba. The New York Times noted that the White House lifted restrictions on travel and payments to communist Cuba “when most Republican members of Congress were away on retreat and Democrats had left their offices for the long holiday weekend,” and that the timing “indicated that the administration hoped to enact the changes with as little fanfare—and backlash—as possible.” The changes were posted at 5:42 p.m. EST.

Another point, not mentioned, was that the nation was supposed to be in mourning over the Arizona massacre. But Obama used this as an opportunity, in the words of Democratic Senator Robert Menendez, to “extend an economic life line to the Castro regime.” He said Obama was giving the regime “a much-need infusion of dollars that will only allow the Castro brothers to extend their reign of oppression and human rights violations.”

Travel to Cuba, through such venues as the Venceremos Brigades, has been a means by which the Castro dictatorship recruits Americans as agents of influence, trains them in guerrilla warfare tactics, and puts them in touch with international terrorists. (...) No wonder the Obama Administration carried out this despicable policy change when it thought few people would be paying attention. (...) >>>

Another picture of shame -

The Obama doubles over for the heir of a war criminal, the Emperor of Japan, and during his Asian tour tosses swathes of victims under the Obama bus (I apologize in advance for some I'm bound to forget): in India, Jewish and Hindu victims of the Pakistan terror attack on Mumbay; in Indonesia the inhabitants of East Timor and West Papua, the war victims of the Japanese war machine ... oh, I give up! Sultan Knish: "A Smiling Obama Returns to Bloody Jakarta"

The media narrative is that Barack Hussein Obama is returning to the place where he grew up as part of a diplomatic tour. The truth is that Obama is visiting a genocidal country and paying homage to its regime, even while many of the atrocities continue.

While Obama found time to blast Israel for building housing in Jerusalem, he made no mention of the Indonesian genocide in East Timor. No word about the Indonesian mass murder of between 100,000 to 200,000 people in a country whose population totaled little more than half a million. Shortly after Obama left Jakarta, the Indonesian regime began an occupation that lasted until 1999. An occupation armed and aided by successive US administrations.

But there is a reason you won't hear about the meat hooks where Indonesian backed militias hung their victims, before mutilating and killing them. You won't hear about the fields of the dead where the corpses of men, women and children were piled into mass graves. You won't hear of the machete squads who hacked people to death in full public view and on video. You certainly won't hear about the ethnic cleansing, the mass deportations, the gang rapes or even the murder of Western reporters. And there's a simple reason for all that. Indonesia is a Muslim country. Their victims in East Timor were Christians. (...) >>>

A plethora of plattitudes -

Washington Post: "Obama's remarks about Ground Zero mosque: The transcript"

President Obama's remarks for Friday night's iftar dinner at the White House, marking the breaking of the daily Ramadan feast, transcribed and distributed by the administration:
Good evening, everybody. Welcome. Please, have a seat. Well, welcome to the White House. To you, to Muslim Americans across our country, and to more than one billion Muslims around the world, I extend my best wishes on this holy month. Ramadan Kareem. (...) The 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for our country. And the pain and the experience of suffering by those who lost loved ones is just unimaginable. So I understand the emotions that this issue engenders. And Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground. But let me be clear. As a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. (...) >>>

Blowback -

FoxNation: "Special Relationship Over? Britain Talks of Boycotting America"

The special relationship is over. We gave America years of unwavering support after September 11. And now we see how Barack Obama’s administration repays us. First, Obama declared that America was “neutral” over the sovereignty of the Falklands, ignoring the clear wishes of the islands’ population. And, second, his Assistant Secretary of State, Philip Crowley, snubbed Britain by failing to use their proper name and instead calling them the “Malvinas”. I don’t know where Obama learned about diplomacy, but his stinks. (...) >>>

Today, Daniel Pearl -

NRO: "One of Those Moments", by Mark Steyn

Barack Obama’s remarkable powers of oratory are well known: In support of Chicago’s Olympic bid, he flew into Copenhagen to give a heartwarming speech about himself, and they gave the games to Rio. He flew into Boston to support Martha Coakley’s bid for the U.S. Senate, and Massachusetts voters gave Ted Kennedy’s seat to a Republican. In the first year of his presidency, he gave a gazillion speeches on health-care “reform” and drove support for his proposals to basement level, leaving Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to ram it down the throats of the American people through sheer parliamentary muscle.

Like a lot of guys who’ve been told they’re brilliant one time too often, President Obama gets a little lazy, and doesn’t always choose his words with care. And so it was that he came to say a few words about Daniel Pearl, upon signing the “Daniel Pearl Press Freedom Act.” Pearl was decapitated on video by jihadist Muslims in Karachi on Feb. 1, 2002. That’s how I’d put it. This is what the president of the United States said: “Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.” Now Obama’s off the prompter, when his silver-tongued rhetoric invariably turns to sludge. Obama sacrificing his Wall St. pay masters -

Obama top contributors: Goldman Sachs on the books for $994,795 - Let's not interfere in the Democrat internal affairs -

The Foundry: "Morning Bell: The Crony Capitalist Threat to Our Economic Freedom"

The Obama administration’s game plan for passing their financial regulatory reform plan is clear: ignore the details of their bill, demonize Wall Street, and cast conservatives as the pawns of big bankers. But as Politico reports today, there’s a complication in their battle plan: “The Democratic Party is closer to corporate America — and to Wall Street in particular — than many Democrats would care to admit.”

Politico should be commended for acknowledging the left’s cozy ties with corporate America, but then they go on to write: “Some Democrats acknowledge that the legislation — and the harsh anti-Wall Street rhetoric — could cost them campaign contributions from the financial services sector in what is already shaping up to be a tough election year.” This is just flat wrong. As evidence and logic clearly demonstrate, the left’s harsh anti-business rhetoric and glee for expansive regulation is a boon to their campaign coffers. As USA Today reports, Goldman Sachs alone has given nearly $900,000 since January 2009 to congressional candidates, and according to the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics, 69% of the firm’s contributions went to Democrats while 31% went to Republicans. In fact, Goldman is not opposed to Obama’s Wall Street Bailout Bill at all.
